Our function is to license and regulate the manufactured housing industry within the State including units used for commercial purposes. The Division examines and issues licenses to manufacturers, dealers, brokers and salespersons, as well as installers and repairmen. The Division also issues permits and inspects installations to enforce the New Mexico code requirements. Inspection authority is statewide; the regulations relate to construction standards, the repairs, modifications, installations, tie-downs, hook-ups and sale of all units in the State.
Our mission is to assure purchasers the essential conditions of health and safety, and to provide that the business practices of the industry are fair and orderly.
Consumer complaints are coordinated by the Division with primary focus on informal resolution. If a complaint cannot be handled informally, legal disciplinary action is initiated through the Attorney General's Office. The Division has the authority to deny, suspend or revoke a license, or attach consumer protection bonds.
