Notice is hereby given that the Construction Industries Commission will hold a regular meeting to consider pending agenda items and discuss such other business as may require formal action by the Commission. The agenda will be available on the Construction Industries Division website, www.rld.state.nm.us/cid, at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.

Anyone who requires special accommodations is requested to notify the Commission in writing at 2550 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87505, or by telephone at (505) 476-4700 of such needs one week prior to the meeting.

Our function is to provide for the protection of life and property by adopting and enforcing building codes and standards, thereby promoting the general welfare of the people of New Mexico.

The Division is responsible for issuing residential and commercial building permits. The Division conducts field inspections for general building, electrical, mechanical, and LP Gas code compliance and safety standards. Cities and counties with local building inspection offices must adopt the building codes and standards of the Division as a minimum standard.

The Division is also responsible for:

  • Examinations and the issuance of licenses for contractors, and certificates of competence for journeymen
  • Review and approval of residential and commercial building plans for building code and accessibility requirements
  • The conduct of unlicensed contractor investigations
  • Code compliance and other complaints related to violations of the Construction Industries Licensing Act

The following statutes are applicable: Chapter 60, Article 13, Construction Industries Licensing Act; and Chapter 70, Article 5, Liquefied and Compressed Gasses. See Rules and Law page for more information.
