Nursing Home Administrators: Overview
Nursing Home Administrators Board
The Nursing Home Administrators Board licenses and regulates only nursing home administrators and not nursing homes in New Mexico. The State Department of Health oversees nursing homes.
The Board sets professional and educational standards for obtaining a new license or renewing an existing license for nursing home administrators. All nursing home administrators must pass a national standards exam that tests the skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Resident Care Management
- Personnel Management
- Financial Management
- Environmental Management
- Regulatory Management
- Organizational Management
The Board also investigates complaints against nursing home administrators and takes appropriate disciplinary actions when professional and ethical standards are violated.
