Q.  What do I need to get a NM Respiratory Care Practitioner’s license (RCP)?
                   A.  Submit a completed application with the required fee and copies of all items listed in the      checklist of the application. 
    
               
Q.   How long does it take to get a license?
A.   After your application and all the information required for licensure have been submitted to       our office, we try to have you licensed within 3 to 5 business days.

Q.   How do I renew my license?
A.   A postcard with renewal information will be mailed to you at least 30 days before the renewal
      expiration date.  You need to follow the postcard instructions if you wish to renew online or       you can go to our web site and print out a renewal application.  Complete the renewal       application and submit it to our office with the required fee and documentation verifying your       continuing education requirements as set forth in Title 16 Chapter 23 Part 12 NMAC.

Q.   How do I reactivate my expired or lapsed license?
A.   If your license has expired you must contact the office and then submit a reactivation form       along with the required fee and documents BEFORE the next renewal expiration date or your       license will lapse.  If your license has lapsed you must re-apply for a new license. 
      Please remember: A person continuing to practice without a valid license is in violation of       Section 61-12B-4 of the Respiratory Care Act, and is guilty of a misdemeanor. The       Department will seek civil action against the violator in accordance with Section 61-12B-15.

Q.    Do you have Temporary Permits?
 
A.  A student extern permit is issued to a student extern engaged by a supervisory facility to       provide respiratory care for remuneration while enrolled in an approved respiratory care       training and education program. 
      A graduate permit is issued to a non-licensed person who has completed an approved       respiratory care training program and is employed by a supervisory facility to provide       respiratory care for remuneration and who can submit proof of scheduling to take the National       Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) exam.
