How to apply for licensure in New Mexico

  • Review the Rules and Regulations and the Landscape Architect statute to make sure that your qualifications meet the requirements.
  • Submit a completed application along with $75 and samples of your work to the Board office for review. (See Part 2, Subsection 8.2.3).
  • Have the registrar at the University you attended forward your official transcripts directly to the Board office.
  • Include three (3) letters of reference from individuals who are not related to you and who are familiar with the quality of your professional activities.
  • Have the Employment Verification Forms completed by current and past employers. No more than five years are necessary.
  • If you have been licensed in another state, have that state submit verification of licensure.
  • Should you need to take the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E), the deadline is March 15 for the June exam and October 5 for the December examination. Notify the Board of your intention before the deadline.
  • If you are CLARB certified, please notify CLARB and request your file be mailed to the Board office. You will only need to complete the application and provide three letters of reference if you are CLARB certified.

When your application and accessory materials have reached the Board office, it will be evaluated by the Board at their next scheduled Board meeting.
