The Regulation and Licensing Department oversees five different industries in New Mexico, as well as numerous specialized professions and trades. The Department’s responsibilities include:
P.R.E.P. Pilot Relight Emergency Program
Alcohol and Gaming processes applications for New Mexico Liquor Licenses, supervises the state’s Alcohol Server Training program, and adjudicates administrative citations for violation of the Liquor Control Act.

Construction Industries Division licenses contractors and certifies journeymen in the building trades, issues permits for residential and commercial construction, and conducts field inspections of building, electrical, mechanical and LP Gas construction to confirm that the work meets state standards.

Financial Institutions regulates state-chartered banks, savings and loans, credit unions, trust companies, collection agencies, endowed care cemeteries, small loan and motor vehicle finance companies, mortgage lenders and loan brokers.

Manufactured Housing examines and issues licenses to manufacturers, dealers, brokers and salespersons as well as installers and repairmen of manufactured housing units, and issues permits and inspects installations to enforce New Mexico code requirements.

Division licenses broker-dealers, financial advisers and other investment professionals, registers certain securities offered in New Mexico; and investigates financial fraud and violations of the state’s securities law. The Securities Division also assists investors in avoiding fraud and making appropriate financial decisions.
Public Comment and Complaints. The primary mission of the Regulation and Licensing Department is to serve the people of New Mexico by protecting the public health and welfare.
